Library Rules
1. Respectful Behavior
At the Global Studies University Library, users are expected to treat library staff, other users, and library resources with respect and courtesy. This includes refraining from disruptive behavior, using appropriate language, and respecting the rights and privacy of others.
2. Maintain Silence or Low Noise Levels in Designated Study Areas
We offer designated quiet study areas for Master’s and Ph.D. students seeking a focused academic work environment. We kindly ask users to observe silence or keep noise levels low in these areas to respect the needs of others. These spaces are designed to support studying, reading, and research.
3. Copyright and Fair Use
The Global Studies University Library adheres to applicable copyright laws in the United Arab Emirates. The library supports compliance through staff training, obtaining necessary permissions and licenses, and providing resources and assistance to users. Our goal is to facilitate legal and ethical access to information while respecting intellectual property rights.
4. Food and Drink Policy
All users are asked to follow the library’s rules regarding food and drink. To preserve our collections and maintain the cleanliness of our facilities, food and drink are generally not permitted within the library building.
Users may consume food and beverages in designated reading areas and outdoor spaces. Please use spill-proof containers and dispose of waste appropriately. Your cooperation helps preserve our collections and facilities for all library users.
5. Appropriate Use of Library Resources and Technology
Library computers and networks must be used responsibly and in accordance with UAE laws and university policies. Accessing prohibited or inappropriate content or engaging in illegal online activity is not permitted.
6. Mobile Phone and Video Call Policy
Please keep mobile phones on silent mode or vibrate to minimize disruptions. Refrain from loud or lengthy phone conversations within the library to maintain a quiet study environment.
7. Guidelines for Photography, Videography, and Filming
To respect the privacy and rights of all library users, camera use within the Global Studies University Library is strictly regulated.
Permission must be obtained from library staff before taking photographs or recording videos, whether for personal or academic purposes. Commercial photography or filming requires prior authorization from the library administration.
Photographing or filming identifiable individuals without their consent is not permitted. Please seek permission and follow these guidelines to protect the privacy and comfort of all library users.
8. No Smoking or Vaping
Smoking and vaping, including the use of electronic cigarettes and other vaping devices, are prohibited throughout the Global Studies University Library.
9. Protect Your Personal Belongings
Please do not leave personal items unattended to reserve study spaces. The library cannot accept responsibility for lost belongings. When stepping away from your study area, including for a restroom break or phone call, take your valuables with you.
10. Lost and Found Items
Items found in the library are kept at the security desk. If you find an item, please hand it to security personnel.
11. Safety and Emergencies
Keep walkways and exits clear. Follow staff instructions and leave the building promptly when an emergency alarm sounds.
