Daniel Mbizi, a Master of Arts student in Global African Studies at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, has been selected for Cohort 9 of the Doha Debates Ambassador Program, offered by Qatar Foundation’s Doha Debates.

The 12-week virtual program began on September 22, 2026, bringing together a global cohort of emerging leaders, researchers, and changemakers to engage in dialogue and consensus-building on pressing international challenges.

Inspired by the majlis, a traditional gathering for open discussion, the program combines expert-led training and mentored collaboration to develop participants’ intercultural communication skills and their ability to engage constructively with differing perspectives.

Daniel, who is from Angola and specializes in Diplomacy and Africa’s International Relations, sees the program as an opportunity to connect his academic interests with the practice of dialogue and public diplomacy. His research interests include diplomacy, governance in the Global South, and cross-border collaboration. Through exchanges with participants from diverse backgrounds, he will explore issues including technology, climate resilience, governance, and global cooperation.

“As an MA candidate in Global African Studies specializing in International Relations and Diplomacy, I see this opportunity as an important extension of my academic and research interests,” Daniel said.

“I am particularly proud to represent Global Studies University and The Africa Institute in this international forum. The experience will further strengthen the practical application of my research on diplomacy, Global South governance, and cross-border collaboration.”
