Afomiya Ayalew Mitiku is an Ethiopian Master of Arts student in Global African Studies at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, specializing in Diplomacy and Africa’s International Relations. Building on a background in Political Science and International Relations, her research focuses on diplomacy and Africa’s evolving role in global affairs. She examines regional integration, global realignments, and diplomatic strategies, with particular attention to the Horn of Africa’s regional repositioning and its broader global implications.
Her current research topic, “Comparative Analysis of Ethiopia’s and Kenya’s Foreign Policies for the Past 15 Years,” uses a comparative lens to examine how the two countries have pursued regional and international priorities amid changing political and diplomatic contexts. Through her academic and professional work, she seeks to contribute to policymaking and diplomatic practice that strengthen Africa’s agency in international relations.
