Amer Ahmed, a final year Master of Arts in Global African Studies student at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, attended AIM Congress 2026, joining conversations on global finance with particular focus on Africa’s role in international investment and economic development.
Specializing in Diplomacy and Africa’s International Relations, Amer had the opportunity to connect his studies with discussions among investors, policymakers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
Held from September 7–9, 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event explored investment pathways toward a sustainable and inclusive future. The 2026 edition placed particular emphasis on Africa’s growing role in global investment, with an African Pavilion dedicated to partnerships and economic opportunities across the continent.
During the Congress, Amer exchanged perspectives with participants working in investment and development, building professional connections around shared interests in Africa’s economic future.
“Exchanges are not merely connections between actors; they are keys to doors of knowledge, rooms of thought, and horizons of possibilities, pathways through which ideas, expertise, investment, and opportunity circulate, opening routes towards Africa’s development and more promising futures”, Amer said.
Amer also introduced participants to the work of The Africa Institute, GSU, contributing perspectives shaped by his studies to discussions beyond the university. His participation provided an opportunity to consider how diplomacy, international partnerships, and investment intersect with questions of development across Africa.
