Welcome to Global Studies University.

New Student Orientation introduces incoming students to GSU’s academic programs, policies, resources, and support services and helps them complete essential steps before classes begin. Students meet faculty, staff, and fellow students; receive academic advising and registration guidance; and become familiar with University systems, facilities, and services.

Orientation Schedule

Orientation marks the beginning of your graduate journey and takes place before each academic intake.

 

The Fall 2026 orientation for incoming Ph.D. in Global Studies students will be held from August 24 to 27, 2026.
 

Completing your application file is required for enrollment. Students must book an online file-completion appointment with the Admissions team and present the documents listed in their Admission Letter.

Before Orientation

Before attending, incoming students should:

  • Complete requirements communicated by the Admissions and Registrar Services offices
  • Review their admission and academic program information
  • Check their GSU email regularly
  • Review the Academic Calendar, Student Handbook, and Student Catalog
  • Refer to the latest orientation schedule for dates, venues, and required activities

 

Essential Information for New Students

Academic Advising and Registration

Students receive guidance on their study plans, course selection, registration, and class schedules. Academic advising forms an important part of the registration process, and students should follow instructions communicated by their academic program and the Registrar Services Office.

GSU Student ID Card

Information about the processing and collection of GSU Student ID cards is provided to enrolled/registered students. Student ID cards are used to access University facilities and services.

IT Services

Students are introduced to their GSU email, the learning management system, campus Wi-Fi, and other University digital systems. Information on accessing technical support is emailed to all students before orientation. For further assistance, email: it@gsu.ac.ae. Operating hours are 8:30 to 17:30, Monday through Thursday. 

Library and Learning Resources

Orientation introduces students to the GSU Library, its physical and digital collections, study spaces, borrowing services, and research support. Read more

Eligible students receive guidance on student visa, residency, Emirates ID, qualification recognition, and document attestation requirements. Students should follow the instructions and deadlines communicated by the responsible University offices.

Student Support, Health, and Accessibility

Students are introduced to the academic, personal, health, well-being, and accessibility support available at GSU, as well as procedures for requesting assistance.

Living in Sharjah and Student Housing

Sharjah offers students a rich academic and cultural environment, with convenient access to services, amenities, and opportunities across the city.
