Yitjuok Agwet is a South Sudanese postgraduate researcher pursuing a Master of Arts in Museum and Critical Heritage Studies at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. His academic and professional work focuses on museums, cultural heritage, memory, and the role of cultural practices in post-conflict societies.

His research focuses on critical heritage studies, museum and curatorial practices, memorialization, and decolonial heritage approaches. He is also interested in how heritage relates to state-building, memory politics, and overlooked or under-institutionalized heritage sites.

Agwet’s MA thesis, “The Museum Without a Museum: Absence and Memory-Making at the Wedding Massacre House in South Sudan,” examines the Wedding Massacre House in Wau as a site of memory and memorialization. The research explores how absence, material neglect, and limited institutional support shape the preservation, representation, and transmission of historical memory in post-conflict South Sudan.
