Fatma Mohamed Hassan is a Master of Arts student in Global African Studies at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, specializing in Diplomacy and Africa’s International Relations, from Kenya. Her research focuses on human rights and global policy, building on her professional and academic background. Having witnessed how domestic policy is influenced by international frameworks, she examines how international legal and policy commitments, particularly those addressing child marriage, translate into local contexts and whether they lead to meaningful social change. Fatma’s work explores the conditions that determine the success or limitations of international interventions, addressing tensions between local socio-cultural, religious, and economic dynamics and universal norms. She aims to generate insights that strengthen the connection between international commitments and local realities for national and international stakeholders.
