Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounting operations, and supporting financial reporting in compliance with internal policies and Sharjah Finance Department regulations. The role ensures the integrity of financial data and supports management in operational and financial decision-making.

• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with applicable regulations and standards
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including review, verification, and
  processing of payments
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking against approved allocations
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with Sharjah Finance Department requirements
• Coordinate with banks regarding payments, transfers, and account-related matters
• Support asset registration, depreciation tracking, and periodic asset verification
• Assist during internal and external audits by providing required financial information
• Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor
• Ensure compliance with the University’s financial policies and procedures, internal control requirements, and applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial processes, reporting, and accounting efficiency

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• All academic qualifications and educational certificates must be duly attested by the competent authorities in the country of issuance, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and recognized and/or equivalized by the competent authorities in the United Arab Emirates, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (or the authority responsible for academic recognition), in accordance with applicable laws and regulations

• Professional accounting certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent qualifications will be considered a strong advantage
• Postgraduate qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines are an advantage
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting
• Experience with governmental or semi-governmental financial frameworks is preferred
• Experience working with ERP and financial management systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms is preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Strong ethical standards and confidentiality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective communication skills in a multicultural environment
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
