Overview
The Africa Institute, GSU’s first institute, is an interdisciplinary academic research institute dedicated to the study, research, and documentation of Africa, its peoples and cultures, and its complex past, present, and global connections.
As the Gulf region’s only institute of its kind, it integrates postgraduate education with international symposia, visual arts programs, film and performance series, and community engagement. The Institute advances scholarship on African and African diaspora studies while fostering public understanding of Africa’s interactions with the Arab world, both locally and internationally.
