Samallie Kiyingi

Global General Counsel for Standard Chartered’s Corporate and Investment Bank, Singapore

Samallie Kiyingi is a highly accomplished business leader, currently serving as the Global General Counsel for Standard Chartered’s Corporate and Investment Bank. Based in Singapore, she oversees legal strategies across multiple markets worldwide, reflecting her extensive international finance expertise.

Samallie’s distinguished career spans four continents and includes experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior to her current role, she was General Counsel at the African Export-Import Bank in Cairo and held senior positions at Deutsche Bank and Clifford Chance in London.

Recognized for her contributions to legal innovation and transformational leadership, Samallie has received several prestigious accolades. She was named one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent Under 40 in 2018 as part of the United Nations Decade for People of African Descent. In 2021, she was awarded General Counsel of the Year at the International Financial Law Review Africa Law Awards. Samallie is also a member of the Expert Panel of P.R.I.M.E. Finance (Panel of Recognized International Market Experts) based in The Hague, where she serves on the Management Board.

Beyond her work in finance and law, Samallie is a passionate supporter of the arts. She is a founding member of Tate Modern’s African Art Acquisition Committee, a member of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art’s Global Council, and a patron of the National Gallery of Singapore. Additionally, she previously served on the British Council Patrons Board for the 60th Venice Biennale.
