Dr. Fatima Al-Shamsi

 Senior Economist, Novus Consulting Group, UAE

Dr. Fatima Al-Shamsi is a distinguished Senior Economist at Novus Consulting Group. Her previous roles include serving as the Deputy Executive Director for Administrative Affairs at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) and Secretary General of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom, and a Master’s in Economics from the University of Baltimore, USA.

Al-Shamsi has held several academic and administrative positions throughout her career. She also served as a consultant to the UAE National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority. Her research interests focus on economic development issues and women’s studies. She has published extensively in refereed academic journals and presented research papers at various scientific conferences.

Since 2015, Al-Shamsi has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington (AGSWI), Washington, D.C. She has also been a longstanding member of the Academic Committee of the Trends Center for Research and Consulting in Abu Dhabi since 2020. From 2014 to 2023, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Economic Research Forum (ERF), Cairo, and was a founding member of the ERF chapter in Dubai. Additionally, she served on the advising committee of the GCC Economic Research Initiative.

Al-Shamsi was a member of the Gulf Research Center (GRC) Academic Board and the Council of the Gulf Research Center Foundation from March 2007 to 2017.
